For Nexus Smart Communities, Collections Becomes a Competitive Advantage
Nexus Smart Communities manages more than 45 homeowner associations and 4,500 homes across Southern California, built around cloud-based systems and proactive service. But from the beginning, CEO Jonathan De La Torre says his managers were buried in manual collections administration, completing forms, scanning documents, chasing down attorneys, and fielding board questions about delays and surprise fees.
Axela Easy Collect changed everything. By automating the collections process end to end and integrating directly with Nexus’s existing accounting system, Enumerate, Easy Collect let Nexus take collections off its managers’ plates entirely, without the need to add staff or deal with upfront costs for associations. Today, 95% of Nexus communities have signed on, and the platform has become a core part of the company’s sales pitch to new clients.
The results speak for themselves: Nexus has recovered more than $1.3 million through the platform, reduced the average collection cycle to 81 days, and cut delinquency by 70% in just 12 months for one long-standing account. Just as important, De La Torre says, is the confidence Easy Collect gives boards. “You can see all the interactions they’re having, whether it be email, a letter, a phone call,” he says. “That reassures board members who may have questions, ‘Is anything being done?’ Obviously, it is being done.”
“We like vendors who are obsessed with what they do and genuinely care about closing files. That’s why we recommend Axela.”
